Broad Edged Pens

These are flat or broad tip pen used for traditional calligraphy scripts such as Gothic, Italic, Foundational hand, etc

For beginners, it is suggested to use a marker tip pen first to get familiar with the working of a broad pen before using nibs and inks, however I suggest you to have a marker and nib-ink both while learning italic. Using a Nib, you can get extra fine thin hairlines and details with the strokes, it also enables you to manipulate the nib while writing creating a ton of variations to our script. You can do so much with a nib than a marker!
